Safety before, during and after the walk.
5 dogs maximum in our packs
Before the walk
Every dog must be up to date on all their shots.
The dogs need to be compatible with the other group members. We will take the time to introduce your dog to the group and will never just toss your pup in with a group and hope for the best. Rather, we will take the time to have them meet their group buddies beforehand in an open and natural environment, ideally with you there. We are very happy to have you walk alongside as well.
Transportation Safety
The vehicles are air-conditioned and we have strategically placed extra fans for more circulation.
Ceramic-tinted windows that provide up to 79% heat reduction.
In the warmer weather we use cooling mats.
We provide water in no-spill containers in the dog area.
Our vehicles are out-fitted with dog-barriers.
Each dog is either in a crate or tethered. The tethers are customized designed to a specific length to minimize any wrapping around their bodies.
The tethers contain no loops; again to avoid any wrapping around paws etc.
A netting is placed at the back exit to further prevent any dog escapee.
The dogs are trained to sit and wait and take turns to exit the vehicle. No free-for-alls.
Walk safety
We use premium Biothane leads.
The leads are attached to a secure belt on our waist and then attached to the dog at 2 different points with small swivelled security straps.
Attached leashes means our hands our free in the case of any emergency.
We are certified in canine first-aid.
During the walk
No dog is allowed off-leash.
We practice avoidance with other dogs on the walks as much as possible. We can't know the behaviour of other dogs and dogs on leash can react much differently than dogs off-leash. Why take the chance? Your dog will be happily socializing within their own pack.
We request that any off-leash dogs encountered by restrained by their owners as we pass. (We only walk in on-leash parks and trails but have no control over other peoples' choices)
In the case of aggressive dogs we use defensive measures such as treat toss and if warranted, the use of PetSafe citronella dog deterrent. If that fails, we dive in and defend.
Water is provided during the walk.
We will alert you to any changes in your dog's normal behaviour.
After the walk
Water is again provided for the dogs via the no-spill water dish during the drive back home.
Each dog is tethered or placed in a crate.
In the winter absorbent mats are provided and in the warmer weather, cooling mats are utilized.
